Voxly Tuition | Maths, English & Science Tuition Centre

This policy was formally adopted by the Management of Voxly Tuition on 25th June 2026. It will be reviewed annually by the management team and will remain in effect unless and until the Management notifies the Institute of any amendments.

This document should be read in conjunction with our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Grievance Resolution Policy and Procedures.

Voxly Tuition Health and Safety Policy :

Statement of Intent

Voxly Tuition is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all students aged 8 to 16, as well as for staff, parents, and visitors.

We operate in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, alongside applicable guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Ofsted.

Our aim is to promote a strong culture of health and safety awareness, where risks are identified and managed proactively, and where everyone understands and fulfils their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Centre Head / Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health and safety laws.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and respond promptly to issues.
  • Train and support staff in their health, safety, and safeguarding roles.
  • Maintain fire safety, first aid, and hygiene standards on-site.
  • Review and update this policy annually or after any incident.

Tutors and Staff

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Supervise students responsibly at all times.
  • Report accidents, hazards, or concerns promptly.
  • Maintain classroom order and enforce behaviour expectations.

Students

  • Follow staff instructions related to safety.
  • Behave responsibly and avoid creating hazards.
  • Report unsafe situations or injuries immediately.

Parents and Guardians

  • Inform the centre of any medical, behavioural, or special needs.
  • Keep children at home when unwell or contagious.
  • Reinforce safety and respectful behaviour at home.

Risk Assessments

We carry out risk assessments for:

  • Classrooms and teaching areas.
  • Entrances, exits, and shared spaces.
  • Electrical equipment and IT use.
  • Fire and emergency preparedness.
  • Off-site trips or activities.

All risk assessments are reviewed annually or whenever a significant change occurs.

First Aid

  • At least one trained first aider is present during all opening hours.
  • fully stocked first aid kit is available and checked monthly.
  • All incidents are recorded in an accident logbook.

Serious injuries are reported to parents and, where applicable, to local authorities under RIDDOR regulations.

Fire Safety

  • Fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency exits are regularly maintained.
  • Termly fire drills are conducted.
  • Fire evacuation procedures are clearly displayed and explained to all staff and students.
  • Staff receive fire safety training and know their responsibilities during an evacuation.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

We follow the guidance outlined in:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

Key Safeguarding Measures

  • All staff are enhanced DBS checked.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is on-site.

Concerns are handled confidentially and referred as appropriate to the Royal Borough of Greenwich Safeguarding Board.

Hygiene and Cleanliness

  • Cleaning is carried out daily, with additional cleaning of high-touch surfaces.
  • Toilets and handwashing stations are maintained to high standards.
  • Hand sanitiser is available throughout the centre.

Behaviour and Anti-Bullying

  • Voxly Tuition enforces a strict behaviour policy that supports a safe learning environment.
  • Bullying, discrimination, or harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
  • Incidents are logged, investigated, and resolved, with parents informed as needed.

Infection Control (Including COVID-19 and Flu)

  • We follow public health guidance from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
  • Students and staff with symptoms of contagious illness must stay home.
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place.
  • Ventilation is maintained in all learning spaces.

Policy Review and Communication

  • This policy is reviewed annually or after any significant change or incident.
  • All staff are required to read and follow this policy.
  • A copy is available to parents and carers upon request and is posted on our premises.
